The Energizer Energi To Go cell phone charger is the one gadget you don’t want to leave home without.

It comes in handy when traveling, especially at airports where there are only a few power outlets, which of course are always taken.

This little device does all the work for you; just plug it in to the bottom of your cell phone, the blue LED lights up, and in minutes you are ready to make that call.

It comes with two AA Lithium batteries and a connector that is compatible with your phone. Energizer also makes Energi To Go kits for MP3 players and gaming devices.

You get instant power anytime, anywhere. Although it comes with the Lithium batteries, which Energizer recommends, you can use any AA battery with the charger.

The Energi To Go I tested worked with my Palm Treo 700w. But, according to Energizer, the Energi is compatible with most cell phones.

I have seen connectors for Nokia, Samsung, Sprint, and Motorola handsets. There is also a mini-USB connector that works with the Blackberry and my Palm Treo. If you search hard enough you might find some more versions, but that is all I have came across.

It was a life saver when I was in the airport and couldn’t find an outlet to charge my phone. You think your phone battery will last, but trust me those smartphones eat battery life up.

One good thing is the Energi To Go is smaller than most phones, so it doesn’t take up any room in your bag, and you don’t have to deal with those annoying cords from your standard charger.

Everything about this charger is simple, from the design to the instructions.

The Energi is made of hard plastic and doesn’t feel cheap, in fact I accidentally dropped it and it was as if nothing happened.

The bottom cap pops off and that is where the batteries go. Energizer doesn’t have any statistics on how many times the Energi To Go will actually charge your phone until it needs new batteries, but it probably will not charge a dead smartphone more than twice. As for regular cell phones I am sure you get more usage since they don’t use as much power.

Like I said earlier, this is great for traveling because in minutes the Energi will have you talking again. It fully-charged my Treo, which had about 10 percent battery life left, in less than an hour.

Overall the Energi To Go is what I call the "emergency talk device" because that is what it is good for.
