The Motorola Devour (A555) is a nice smartphone, assuming it’s not too big and heavy for you. It performs well in many situations, has a nice camera and provides good social, email and browsing experiences. The voice experience is a letdown due to overactive noise cancellation, but if you’re anything like me, you text and email a lot more than you talk.

Motorola Devour from VerizonIf only it were a little smaller and more attractive, I would give it a strong recommendation. As it is, take a closer look to see if it will fulfill your needs – and make sure to have a large enough pocket to put it in.

  • Solid construction
  • MotoBlur can help you manage a busy social life
  • Beautiful screen
  • Good keyboard
  • Nice email and web browsing experience
  • Good camera

  • Relatively large and heavy
  • Overactive noise cancellation cuts off the first part of each word
  • Phone shuts off without warning in low battery situations
  • Camera zoom is disappointing, producing grainy photos.
