Samsung Galaxy S6 active display

The Samsung Galaxy S6 active is more ruggedized than the S6. In fact, it’s more ruggedized than most other consumer smartphones. It has a bigger battery, excellent buttons, and an extremely useful Active key. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is a more attractive device, has a fingerprint scanner, has various capacity options, and is available on all major carriers.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 active is a more practical device, and that makes it the better device, for AT&T customers anyway. That means that the Samsung Galaxy S6 active sits slightly atop the Android heap, as the LG G4, HTC One M9, and Samsung Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge) duke it out below.

Bottom line, this is a great phone. It’s tough without being too bulky, and has all the performance of a flagship coupled with great battery life.

It’s available in dark gray or white, and costs $200 with a two-year AT&T contract, and $694.99 without, as of this writing. The S6 costs the same on-contract, and $684.99 without.

  • Flagship performance in a tough and rugged build
  • Great battery life
  • Real buttons a big plus

  • Carrier exclusive
  • Only available with 32GB capacity
  • Kind of ugly
