palmOne 1.3 Megapixel Camera Card Delayed Until January
by Ed Hardy -  12/5/2003

The 1.3 Megapixel Camera Card SDIO accessory announced by palmOne in September has been delayed and is not expected to be available until mid-January. It was originally expected to be released this month.

palmOne had been intending to re-brand a card developed by Veo, but this plan has been dropped. Instead, the camera will be marketed by Veo, the makers of the original SD camera card for Palm OS devices.

This will be capable of taking 24-bit color photos at up to 1280 by 1024 pixels. Users can save them as standard JPEG images. Other features include adjustable focus for close-up shots or landscapes, digital zoom for photos, a swivel lens for self-portraits or forward-facing photos, and a video capture function. It is expected to cost $100.

A version of this camera for Pocket PCs is already on the market. It can be found on the Amazon.com web site for about $74.
