Though LG officially revealed the Optimus G at the end of August, the company didn't mention when or if the phone would be coming stateside, only mentioning a release in Japan and Korea. This is no longer the case, as the company has put out an official statement confirming that the speedy smartphone will be coming to the U.S. at some point in Q4.

The Optimus G will be the first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 system on a chip (SoC), clocking in at 1.5 GHz. Other highlights include a whopping 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 320 GPU, as well as a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 True HD, in-cell, IPS display.

It will also feature 4G LTE connectivity, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and it will ship with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Although LG has yet to confirm, it's probably safe to assume that a 4.1 (Jelly Bean) upgrade will come some time after its release.

There is no word yet on pricing for the Optimus G, nor has LG mentioned which American carriers will offer the device. We'll be sure to keep you posted with more details, along with a specific release date, as we find them out.
